October 17 2011 The Rid-a-Rat has taken over most of our free time. Sales are good and we have already broken even with our start up
costs. The point of sale video is at www.rid-a-rat.com. We haven’t abandoned the photography business yet, we are still available
for all your photographic needs.
May 12 Sorry to have abandoned you! We’ve been busy with a new venture It’s called Rid-A-Rat, a new device for eliminating pack rat damage to automobiles. Hope to get a youtube video up soon. Check it out at www.rid-a-rat.com.
March 24 Shooting the video of Jay Torino the horse was quite interesting! It was not scripted, but filmed almost exactly as it happened. Dr. Waldman always was in control, Well, except for one moment when the horse spooked.
March 9. Calibrate your monitor! To maintain consistency, be sure to calibrate your monitor at least monthly. Let the monitor warm up for a while, 10-20 minutes before starting. If it is an older unit, do it more often!
February 25. Just got back from the WPPI photography convention in Las Vegas. Saw a lot of new products, new ideas and attended 3 solid days of classes. It was definitely worth the time and effort.
February 15. I read this recently. . “Think about all the boxes or hard drives full of pictures You’ve ever taken. how often do you you look at that snapshot of the corner of the colosseum? Or the one that captured the full splendor of the breakfast spread at Rio’s Copacabana Palace Hotel? We can get postcard images anywhere, it’s the human sentiment of the handwriting on the other side we miss.” Well. . .these are nice valid sentiments, but we all still enjoy the beauty of the PLACES we have been AND the people we have met along the way.
January 30. Just got back from the AZPPA convention in Tempe. Three days of seminars, and good fellowship. Many merit prints were presented and I hope someday to present some of our own. Watching the judging of the prints was quite interesting too! The judges picked out items and areas of the print that most casual observers would never give a second thought to.
January 5 2011. With the new year comes new challenges and new ideas. Ron, our video expert has mentioned that he would be interested in doing wedding videos again! By combining this with still shots, we can make “images for a lifetime”. We have already made high quality video shorts, feature length films, combined video and still productions of events, and experimental music videos with great success!
December 29. Photo op alert! Catch a few New Years eve photos!
December 25. Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Hope you took a lot of pictures of the family, they ARE keepsakes and beautiful memories.
December 23. Photos are a slice of history. Take them, Print them, Share them, Save them. How about a small camera for your children, let them show you their world!
December 20. This is the time for Christmas pictures! Use a bounce flash to avoid overpowering the tree lights. A star filter could add a bit of bit of interest too.
December 17. Went to Toby’s Christmas party, met a lot of old friends and a few new ones. Christmas is a a week from tomorrow, do you have all your shopping done?
December 10. Took Harris & Steve to the Chi Up ranch. Made a few video clips and stills. She is a natural born horse lover!
December 6. Bought two new backdrops to add to our collection. At the AZPPA meeting we had a great speaker, Dane Sanders, “Standing out in a crowd’ was his topic. Also met another Cartwright, who is studying Videography at Scottsdale Community College.
December 1. It was a busy November, had some interesting shoots, used the Chi Up ranch property for some unusual backgrounds. I especially liked Mickey’s idea of the “Four little sparrows sitting in the tree”, she had four kids sit on a tree branch at the ranch. We also used another clients backyard pool area. Had a few really great shots there, the kids were a joy to work with.
December, 2010. It’s time to start a blog.It won’t be daily or on any schedule, just when I get the urge. Also, take a look at Facebook under Perreaud Photography to see what Mickey has uploaded.
